The 20008 –2009 Wrangler Golf Team enters the season with very high expectations.  Although the OC golf team is young on paper, the Wranglers bring in an abundance of experience and talent.  Led by Mark Penny, Ross Leeds, Kris Harper, and Vincent Castro, the Wranglers have a solid nucleus to build around.  Add Redshirt freshman Jason Kay and the OC golf team is well prepared to make another run at a National Championship.  To top it off, Coach Paul Chavez adds another talented recruiting class which includes Greg Snow, Ganeev Giddie, Andy Andrews, Diego Castilla, Juan Carlos Perez, Niko Bain, Zach Stokes, Mac Walrath, and Cody Christie and the Wranglers are looking at another championship season.

Andy Andrews – FRESH Dubai – Andy is a redshirt freshman transfer from Midland College. Andy enters the OC golf program with tremendous talent and skill. With hard work and dedication, Andy should become a solid contributor to the team.

Niko Bain – FRESH Phoenix, AZ – Niko has a great JR record and enters the OC golf program with great potential. Niko is a tremendous worker and is very dedicated to improving every day. Niko is also a great student and excels in the classroom.

Diego Castilla – FRESH Laredo, TX – Diego enters the OC golf program with a great JR resume. Diego has the talent and attitude to become another great player to go through the OC program. He has the natural ability to play the game and works hard to improve each day. He is also a great team player and gets along great with others. Diego will definitely be heavily recruited by NCAA schools in the future.

Vincent Castro – SOPH Lubbock, TX –Vince enters his second and final year at Odessa College with some valuable playing experience from last year. Vince has show tremendous improvement and should become a solid contributor the team. Vince is a hard worker and is always finding ways to improve his game.

Cody Christie – FRESH Overland Park, KS – Cody will redshirt this year and with valuable practice time, could become a much improved college player. Cody works very hard and has a great attitude. He is a great team player and gets along well with others.

Ganeev Giddie – FRESH Kenya – Ganeev enters the OC golf program with an impressive resume. Ganeev has the talent and skill to become a great college player. With valuable playing time, he will be counted upon to help lead this team to another National Championship.

Kris Harper – SOPH Scotland – Kris has only been with the OC golf program one semester, but has shown signs of becoming a great college player. Kris is dedicated to improving his game and has a great attitude. With valuable practice and playing time, Kris should become a “go to” player this season.

Jason Kay – FRESH Buda, TX – Jason redshirted last season as has shown great improvement. Jason is very dedicated to his game and to his studies. Jason is the type of person who will succeed in whatever he does. He is a great team player and is always positive.

Ross Leeds – SOPH Scotland – Ross completed a very successful freshman season at OC last season. Ross has the natural ability to play the game and has the talent to put up some low scores. With his valuable playing experience from last season, Ross will be counted to help this team to another National Championship.

Mark Penny – SOPH England – Mark had a tremendous freshman season at Odessa College. Mark has the whole package: leadership, talent, attitude, and dedication, to help this team to another Championship. Mark will be heavily recruited by four-year universities and is one of the top players in the NJCAA.

Juan Carlos Perez – FRESH Mexico – Juan Carlos enters the Wrangler Golf program with a great JR record. Juan has the talent and skill to become a great college player. With valuable playing experience, Juan should become a solid contributor to the team. Juan also possesses a great attitude.

Greg Snow – FRESH Kenya – Greg enters the OC golf program with probably the most talent of them all. Greg has that rare ability to put up impressive scores on any golf course. He has a great attitude and is always thinking positively. Greg will definitely be one of the great players to go through the Wrangler golf program.

Zach Stokes – FRESH Odessa, TX – Zach becomes another Permian Panther to wear the blue and white. Zach has that scrappy ability to play tough and put up some good numbers. His great attitude will serve him well in whatever he decides to do in the future. Zach is a great kid to have on the team and is always looking out for his teammates.
