College Career: Steve played two years at Odessa College in Odessa, Texas, where he had two outstanding years with the Wranglers. After two seasons with Odessa College, Steve finished his college career at Florida International.

Pro Career: The Tampa Bay Devil Rays drafted Steve after his final season with Florida International. In his first season with the Devil Rays, Steve had an ERA of 5.65 with two losses, no wins, and one save. Steve pitched 57.1 innings and striking out 41 of the batters he faced. Steve Kent is currently playing in the Florida Marlins system.
