Coach Jim
Watkins recruited Ty to come to Odessa College.
Ty spent two wonderful years with the Wranglers before
going to the Pros.
Pro career: Ty
is a nine-time Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association
(PRCA) world champion. Ty is also the only seven-time
world champion all-around cowboy in professional rodeo
history. Murray was also the Professional Bull Riders’ (PBR)
reserve champion three years in a row. Ty has also
won the PBR Bud Light Cup World finals. Murray has
also won the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo average
championship in both bareback riding and bull riding.
Ty has twice won the PRCA world bull riding titles.
Ty was also the PRCA/Resistol overall and bareback
riding rookie of the year. Ty has been elected into
the ProRodeo Hall of Fame. Ty has retired from the
rodeo scene taking with him more than three million
dollars in career earnings, making him the winningest
cowboy in history.
Fun
Facts: Ty has been referred to as “The
King of the Cowboys” and "Superman in
boots". Ty was the youngest cowboy millionaire
in rodeo history, a feat he accomplished at the age
of 23. Murray is not only one of the original shareholders
of the Professional Bull Riders, Inc, (PBR) but is
also one of the founding members. Texas Monthly said, “Ty
Murray is the Micheal Jordan of Rodeo and that’s
no Bull.”
