Softball Opens Season in Waco, TX at Battle on the Bosque

GAMES PREVIEW:
The Wrangler Softball team will open the 2026 season this weekend in Waco, TX as the Battle on the Bosque hosted by McLennan Community College.
The Wranglers are scheduled to play two games on Thursday, two games on Friday, and one game Saturday but that may change with the winter storm that hit the entire state of Texas earlier this week.
Thursday's season opener will be an early one, as the #6 Wranglers will face #11 Chipola (FL) at 10:00am that morning and then take on Blinn College at 5:30pm that evening.
Friday, Odessa will face a familiar opponent in #3 Grayson in a double-header at 4:30 and 7:00pm.
The Wranglers will wrap up the weekend on Saturday as they face #11 Chipola for the second time at 11:30am.

PRE-SEASON RANKINGS:
The Wranglers are #6 in the NJCAA D1 Pre-Season Poll. The will face #11 Chipola (FL) and #3 Grayson this weekend in Waco.
RETURNING WRANGLERS:
Five players return from last year's team that was 47-8. Most of the experience from last year will come in the circle as pitchers Jayda Lorigan and Seniah Hanies each made 24 appearances last year. Jaycie Pacheo returns to the outfield after hitting .411 in 40 games last year and catcher Airah Whipkey and utility player Kayla Hernandez are back for their second season at OC.
FAMILIAR FOE:
Friday, the Wranglers will face a familiar opponent in #3 Grayson. Last year, the Vikings handed OC two of their last three losses of the season and eliminated them from the 2025 D1 World Series.
UP NEXT:
Odessa will return home for their home opener next weekend as they host Temple College and Luna Community College for four games at the Wrangler Softball Complex February 7th and 8th.
