Oxford, AL - #6 Odessa opened the 2026 D1 World Series defeating #11 Santa Fe 4-2 on Tuesday morning.
Santa Fe got on the board first in the top of the third with a two out RBI single to take on 1-0 lead. That lead was short lived, as Odessa answered in the bottom of the inning on a two-out, two RBI inside the park homerun from Angelique Iredale.
The Wranglers would add two more runs in the fourth on a single by Jaycie Pacheco and a two-out infield single from Jule Breuninger.
Santa Fe would score one more run in the sixth but that would be it for the Saints as the Wranglers would secure the win 4-2.
Jayda Lorigan would go the distance in the circle for Odessa. She gave up two runs on six hits and struck out ten.
The Wranglers advance to the 3:45pm game on Wednesday and will face the winner of #3 Northeast Alabama and #14 Gaston.
