Trinity Valley Community College
The Wrangler Softball Team split a pair of games today at the NJCAA D1 World Series.
GAME 1:
#3 Northeast Alabama 4
#6 Odessa 3
Odessa dropped their first game of the day to #3 Northeast Alabama 4-3. The game was a back and forth affair as teams traded runs throughout the game.
In the top of the fifth inning, the game was suspended due to lightning and torrential rain forcing the game to be moved to Jacksonville State University with Northeast Alabama leading 3-2.
The Wranglers would tie the score in the top of the sixth on a solo home run by Riley Cassiday. Northeast Alabama would answer back with a run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-3 lead and hold on for the victory.
Odessa dropped to the losers bracket for an elimination game against #8 Trinity Valley.
GAME 2:
#6 Odessa 4
#8 Trinity Valley 2
The Wranglers extend their stay at the World Series winning an elimination game over #8 Trinity Valley.
Odessa got on the board early and never looked back scoring two runs in the bottom of the first and one in the second to take an early 3-0 lead.
TVCC would cut into the lead with two runs in the top of the fourth to make it 3-2 Odessa. The Wranglers added an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth and would hold on for a 4-2 win and advance to Friday.
Seniah Haines got the start in the circle and pick up the win throwing five innings, Jayda Lorigan picked up the save after throwing a scoreless sixth and seventh inning in relief.
