The Wrangler Softball team ended the 2026 season on Friday at the NJCAA D1 World Series finishing fifth at the tournament.
Friday, Odessa defeated #2 Northwest Florida 3-1 to advance in the elimination bracket before falling to #7 Paris in the night cap 9-5.
GAME 1:
#6 Odessa 3
#2 Northwest Florida 1
In a game dominated by pitching, one swing of the bat was the difference as Odessa would win the game 3-1.
NWF scored their only run in the bottom of the second on a hit and a error to take a 1-0 lead which they would hold until the top of the seventh.
Odessa was limited to only two hits through the first six innings before a two-out rally would extend the game.
A pinch-hit three run homerun on a 3-2 count by Meret Willeke would be the difference in the game as the Wranglers would win in dramatic fashion and move on.
GAME 2:
#6 Odessa 5
#7 Paris 9
Odessa would end their time in Oxford on Friday night falling to Paris 9-5 to close out the 2026 season in fifth place at the National Tournament.
Paris plated four runs in the bottom of the third without swing the bat and took an early 4-0 lead. Paris would add two more runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth.
Odessa scored one run in the top of the fourth and fifth and would put up three more runs in the top of the seventh but could not overcome the deficit.
