Track Ends Season at NJCAA D1 Outdoor Championships
The OC Track Teams had a strong showing at the 2025 NJCAA D1 Outdoor Track & Field Championships earlier this month in Hutchinson, KS.
Returning to competition for the first time since 2003, both teams finished in the top 12 in the final team standings competing only in the distance races.
The Wrangler Women's Team finished sixth scoring 48 points. OC had the second highest finish by a Region 5/WJCAC school.
Milicent Wafula had very successful meet, she won the 800 meter with a time of 2:06.99 and placed second in the 1500 and the 5000.
Elizabeth Ilanda placed second in the 10,000 and fifth in the 1500. Salma Saddoug placed second in the 3000 Steeplechase and Kaydeen Johnson placed seventh in the 1500.
On the Men's side, the Wranglers placed eleventh scoring 23 points. Odessa was the third highest finishing school from Region 5.
Mohammed El Youssfi dominated the distance races winning the 10,000 in 28:32.04 and 5000 in 13:56.82 breaking the meet and stadium records in both races. The 28:32.04 in the 10k broke the National Record and is now the fastest time at that distance in the NJCAA.
Ethan Gioko placed sixth in the 5000.
Odessa ends the season on a high note at the NJCAA D1 Track & Field Championships.
